ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF LYON OAKLAND COUNTY, MICHIGAN NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING VARIANCE REQUEST ________________________________________ Pursuant to Michigan Public Act 110 of 2006, as amended (the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act), notice is hereby given that the Lyon Township Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, for the purposes of considering the variance request noted below. In accordance with the Open Meetings Act, Public Act 267 of 1976, as amended, MCL 15.261, the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting will take place at Lyon Township Hall, 58000 Grand River Avenue, New Hudson, MI 48165. Request: Ken Kendzie, owner of the property at 25600 Belladonna (parcel ID 21-21-100-022), located generally south of 11 Mile Road and west of Milford Road, proposes to construct an addition on the rear of the existing home. The existing home is not parallel to the northern lot line and does not comply with the required 25-foot side yard setback, with legal non-conforming status. The planned addition is proposed to continue the existing northern building line, resulting in a building addition that will encroach the side yard setback by approximately 4.5 feet, for a total setback of 20.5 feet at its nearest point. Therefore, the ZBA is tasked with considering a variance request from Section 13.05, which governs modification to nonconforming structures, to allow expansion of the legal non-conforming structure. The plans for the proposal may be viewed at the Township Hall. Interested parties are welcome to attend the public hearing and present their comments. Written comments concerning the proposal may be submitted prior to the meeting to the Township Clerk at the address noted above.
