CITY OF ST. CLAIR SHORES NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE CREATION OF A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT AND TO HEAR OBJECTIONS TO THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE DREDGING OF THE BENJAMIN STATLER CANAL PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the City Council of the City of St. Clair Shores has received sufficient petitions, which are on file in the Office of the City Clerk, requesting that the City create a Special Assessment District for the dredging of the Benjamin Statler Canal. A Public Hearing will be held before the City Council at City Hall, 27600 Jefferson Avenue, St. Clair Shores, Michigan on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the agenda will permit, to consider the creation of the Special Assessment District for the dredging of the Benjamin Statler Canal and to hear objections to the said improvement. The request from the Benjamin Statler Canal Association is to dredge approximately 1,300 yards of sediment and repair the jetty. The legal description of the Benjamin Statler Canal Dredging 2025 district boundaries are as follows: Lakewood Gardens Subdivision No. 6 (l12, p35); lots 590 –630; Assessor's Plat No. 19 (l15, p1) lots 3-9; Assessor’s Plat No. 58 (l31,p18) lots 1-7, lots 10-16,& the s 20’ of lots 15 & 16, all of lots 18- 43, & all vacated alley; Couchez's Lake St. Clair subdivision (l3, p3) a portion of lots 4 and 5, described as follows: beg at the se corner of lot 4; thence n01*50'30"e along the east line of lots 4 and 5, 82'; thence s15*12'46"w 78.59' to a point in the south line of lot 4, said point being 19' west of the se corner of lot 4; thence easterly to the se corner of lot 4; also all of lot 7, lots 9 & 10, lots 13 & 14, lots 17 & 18, lots 21 & 22, lots 25 & 26, lots 29 & 30, lots 33 & 34, lots 37 & 38 and lots 41 & 42.
