Notice of Public Hearing Isabella County Planning Commission Isabella BESS Project The Isabella County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at a special meeting on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., at the Isabella County Commission on Aging Building located at 2200 S. Lincoln Road, Mount Pleasant, Michigan 48858. The purpose of the meeting is to consider a request for a special land use permit by DTE Electric Company (“DTE”) to construct, maintain, and operate a proposed battery energy storage system (“BESS”) in the County referred to as the “Isabella BESS Project” (“Project”) under the Isabella County Zoning Ordinance. The proposed Project consists of battery energy storage units, inverters, an underground electrical system, an auxiliary power supply, perimeter security fencing and an acoustic barrier, ingress/egress drives, among other associated improvements outlined in the application materials. The Planning Commission will also review site plan materials submitted by DTE at the meeting as part of a site plan review (as required for a special land use permit) and conduct any other business that comes before the Commission.
