Notice of Availability Draft Environmental Assessment for the Runway Encroachment Solution Project at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Harrison Township, Michigan The Department of the Air Force (DAF) and the National Guard Bureau (NGB), in collaboration with the State of Michigan’s Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), announces the availability of the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI)/Finding of No Practicable Alternative (FONPA) for the implementation of the Runway Encroachment Solution Project at Selfridge Air National Guard Base (ANGB) to address residential encroachment and mitigate future risk of aircraft mishap and safety concerns within the southern clear zone (CZ) of the airfield. The DAF and NGB have prepared a Draft EA to analyze the potential effects of shifting the runway to the north to mitigate encroachment within the southern CZ. The Selfridge ANGB Runway Encroachment Solution Project includes several projects identified to address critical safety concerns, improve airfield operational efficiency, and ensure that airfield and military mission requirements are met. The 30-day public review period will begin on March 16, 2026 and end on April 15, 2026. The public is invited to review and make comments on the Draft EA and Draft FONSI/FONPA, which are available online at: https://www.127wg.ang.af.mil/Home/Energy-and- Environment.
