NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION CITY OF EASTPOINTE, MICHIGAN MACOMB COUNTY TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2026 To the qualified electors of the City of Eastpointe: PLEASE BE NOTICED, that a Special School Board Election will be held in the City of Eastpointe: TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2026 The Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the following Polling Place locations, only: Precinct 1. Boys and Girls Club, 15320 Nine Mile Road Precinct 2. Bellview School, 15800 Bell Street Precinct 3. Michigan Military Museum, 16600 Stephens Precinct 4. Pleasantview School, 16501 Toepfer Precinct 5. Love Life Church, 17363 Toepfer Precinct 6. St. Thomas Church, 23801 Kelly Road Precinct 7. Forest Park School, 18361 Forest Street IT IS HEREBY, NOTICED: that a Special School Board Election will be conducted in Precincts 1-7 only for the purpose of: EASTPOINTE COMMUNITY SCHOOLS COUNTY OF MACOMB STATE OF MICHIGAN OPERATING MILLAGE REPLACEMENT PROPOSAL This proposal, if approved by the electors, would, replace, restore and extend the authority of the School District to levy the statutory limit of 18 mills on all property, except principal residences and other property exempted by law, which currently expires with the School District’s 2028 tax levy and allow the School District to continue to levy the statutory limit of 18 mills in the event of future Headlee rollbacks required by the Michigan Constitution of up to 4 mills. The authorization will allow the School District to continue to receive revenues at the full per pupil foundation allowance permitted by the State. Shall the limitation on the total amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property, except principal residences and other property exempted by law, situated within the Eastpointe Community Schools, County of Macomb, State of Michigan, be increased, in the amount of 22 mills with 18 mills being the maximum allowable levy ($18.00 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation), for a period of twenty (20) years, 2026 to 2045, inclusive with 16.0205 mills of the above 22 mills being a replacement of authorized millage which will otherwise expire with the 2028 tax levy and 1.7443 mills being a restoration of previously authorized millage lost as a result of the rollbacks required by the Michigan Constitution? This operating millage if approved and levied, would provide estimated revenues to the School District of $704,484.41 during the 2026 calendar year, to be used for general operating purposes. YES NO KINDLY BE NOTICED: that Absentee Ballots are available for all elections; registered voters may contact the local clerk to obtain an application for an absentee voter ballot. The Eastpointe Clerk’s Office will be open on Friday, May 1, 2026 from Noon to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the purpose of accepting applications for and issuing Absentee Ballots. PLEASE BE ADVISED, to comply with the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), voting instructions will be available in audio format and in Braille. Arrangements for obtaining the instructions in these alternative formats can be made by contacting the Clerk’s Office in advance of the election. A Public Accuracy Test will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2026 for the purpose of testing the accuracy of the tabulating equipment for the election to be held on TUESDAY, May 5, 2026.
