PUBLIC NOTICE PUBLIC MEETING FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLANS Oakland County is preparing a Five-Year Consolidated Plan and an Annual Action Plan. These plans are required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a prerequisite to receiving funding and address local needs related to housing, economic and community development, and homelessness. The Consolidated Plan will assess the current housing market, discuss characteristics of the county’s population, identify community improvement priorities, and outline a five-year plan to fund and implement them using approximately $6 million in funds received from HUD under the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnerships Act (HOME) program, and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). The range of activities that may be undertaken with these grant funds include construction or improvement of public facilities, housing rehabilitation, rental assistance, public services, economic development, homelessness prevention, and emergency shelter. After accounting for program administration and planning costs, the County estimates that at least 70% of the awarded funds will benefit low- and moderate-income residents. The opinions and perceptions of county residents are an important part of these plans. To provide input, residents are invited to attend one of the public meetings listed below and/or take a survey.
