CITY OF SOUTHGATE WAYNE COUNTY, MICHIGAN NOTICE OF VOTER REGISTRATION STATE PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, AUGUST 4, 2026 TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SOUTHGATE: PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that any qualified elector of the City of Southgate, who is not already registered, may register to vote at the office of the City Clerk; the office of the County Clerk; a Secretary of State branch office, or other designated state agency. Registration forms can be obtained at mi.gov/vote and mailed to the City Clerk. Voters who are already registered may update their registration at: https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/Home/RegisterToVote The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk is: Monday, July 20, 2026 After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL168.492) at the City of Southgate City Clerk’s Office, located at 14400 Dix-Toledo, Southgate, MI 48195 at the following times: Regular business hours: Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Election Day: Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED, that a State Primary Election will be held in the City of Southgate, County of Wayne, Michigan, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at which time the City of Southgate will be voting for Governor, United States Senator, Representative in Congress 13th District, State Senate 4th District, Representative in State Legislature 2nd District, Representative in State Legislature 27th District, County Executive, Delegate to County Convention and on the following proposals: Wayne County Transit Authority Wayne County Public Transportation Millage A proposal to authorize the Wayne County Transit Authority to levy a millage for the purpose of funding public transportation services in Wayne County, including operating, maintaining, improving, and expanding transit services; creating and expanding new fixed routes for bus service connecting local communities; expanding transportation services for seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and the general public to access healthcare, education, and other daily needs. The millage would be levied at a maximum rate of 0.9831 mills (0.98 cents per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of 10 years beginning with the 2026 tax year levy and ending with the 2035 tax year levy. This millage would replace an expiring millage levied by the Wayne County Transit Authority supporting the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (“SMART”). If this new millage is approved and levied, revenue will be distributed to Wayne County, SMART, Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT), and other community and regional transit providers. It is estimated that $57,616,329.00 will be collected in the first year. Should this proposal be adopted? City of Southgate Street Improvement Millage Shall the City of Southgate be authorized to renew the millage of up to 2 mills subject to Headlee Amendment roll back, which was previously reduced to 1.8856 mills by the Headlee Amendment, for the purpose of construction, reconstruction, resurfacing, repairing and otherwise improving City streets for an additional period of five (5) years beginning November 30, 2026, which millage is estimated to raise approximately $1,815,086 in the first year of its levy? YOU ARE FURTHER NOTIFIED, the polls for the State Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 will be as follows: Polls will be open from 7 A.M. until 8 P.M.: Precincts 1, 2 Gerisch School, 12601 McCann Road Precincts 3, 4 Davidson School, 15800 Trenton Road Precinct 5 Civic Center, 14700 Reaume Parkway YOU ARE ALSO HEREBY NOTIFIED, that Early Voting for the State Primary Election will begin on July 25, 2026 and end on August 2, 2026 as prescribed by law. The Early Voting Site for all registered Southgate voters is the Southgate Civic Center, 14700 Reaume Parkway, Southgate, MI 48195.
