The Charter Township of Brownstown Treasurer's Office is currently accepting applications for Summer 2026 tax deferments, (deferments are not exemptions from tax; it is a tax due date extension). The deferment of Summer Property Tax must be on file in the Treasurer's Office prior to September 14, 2026. To qualify, a household annual income cannot exceed $40,000. The applicant(s) must also be: Any taxpayer who is 62 years of age & older, Paraplegic, Quadriplegic, Eligible Serviceperson, Eligible Veteran, Eligible Widow(er), Blind Person or who is Totally and Permanently Disabled. Deferments must be filed annually, and you must submit a copy of the State Credit MI-1040 CR along with your application.
