Berkley School District Resolution to Hold a Public Hearing on the Proposed Budget for the 2026-27 School Year WHEREAS, Michigan law provides that every local unit of government, including a school district, shall hold a public hearing on its proposed budget, with notice of such hearing to be given by publication in a newspaper of general circulation within such unit at least six (6) days before the hearing; and WHEREAS, such notice is required to include the time and place of the hearing and also state the place where a copy of the proposed budget is available for public inspection; and WHEREAS, the statutory provision also requires that the notice include, in I I-point bold faced type, the following statement: THE PROPERTY TAX MILLAGE RATE PROPOSED TO BE LEVIED TO SUPPORT THE PROPOSED BUDGET WILL BE A SUBJECT OF THIS HEARING WHEREAS, each local unit is required to hold the public hearing prior to final adoption ofits budget; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: A public hearing shall be held on June 01, 2026 at a Special Board meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m at the Berkley School District Administrative Offices, Board Room, 14501 Talbot, Oak Park, MI for the purpose of receiving testimony and discussing the proposed 2026-27 budget. The Board of Education hereby ratifies the Notice of Public Hearing to be published in the Oakland Press/Royal Oak Tribune/Media News Group no later than Thursday, May 21, 2026.
