STATE OF MICHIGAN COUNTY OF WAYNE TOWNSHIP OF GROSSE ILE ORDINANCE NO. 25-06 An ordinance to amend Chapter 184, “Parks and Recreation Areas,” to add a new Article III entitled “Centennial Farms Recreation Area” to provide regulations for use of this public recreation facility and penalties for a violation. The Township of Grosse Ile ordains: Section 1 of Ordinance I. The Township of Grosse Ile Code of Ordinances, Chapter 184, “Parks and Recreation Areas,” is hereby amended to add a new Article III, entitled “Centennial Farms Recreation Area,” to read as follows: Article III Centennial Farms Recreation Area. §184-20 Regulations for Use. The following regulations shall be observed when using the Centennial Farms Recreation Area: A. No motor vehicle shall be driven in excess of fifteen (15) miles per hour. B. No motor vehicle shall be parked anywhere outside of a designated parking area. C. No motor vehicle may be parked when the operator or a passenger is not making active use of the park, nor allow a vehicle to remain within a park when the operator or passenger has left the park. D. No motor vehicle may be left standing or parked during hours when the park is closed. E. No trailer of any type may be left at the park at any time, except for the purpose of conducting official township business. F. No person shall ride a bicycle in the park without reasonable regard for the safety of others. G. No person shall drive any motor vehicle on any area except park roads or parking areas designated as open to public travel or such areas as may on occasion be specifically designated by signs as temporary driving or parking areas. §184-21 Township exempt. Section §184-20 shall not apply to township personnel engaged in official township business. §184-22 Vehicles subject to impoundment. If any vehicle or trailer is parked or left standing in violation of this article, the township may immediately remove such vehicle or trailer and impound the same and thereafter process such vehicle or trailer in accordance with applicable provisions of law or ordinance. §184-25 Penalty. Violations of this article shall be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, Article II, Municipal Civil Infractions. Section 2 of Ordinance. – Savings Clause All proceedings pending and all rights and liabilities existing, acquired, or incurred at the time this ordinance takes effect are saved and may be consummated according to the law in force when they are commenced. This ordinance shall not be construed to affect any prosecution pending or initiated before the effective date of this ordinance or initiated after the effective date of the ordinance for an offense committed before that effective date. Section 3 of Ordinance. – Severability If any word, clause, sentence, paragraph or part of this ordinance shall be found invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remainder of the ordinance shall remain in full force and effect. Section 4 of Ordinance. – Effective Date; Publication The provisions of this Ordinance shall take effect as prescribed by law following publication.
